CHARLEVILLE TY STUDENTS OFF TO STRASBOURG

Well done to the TY students of C.B.S Charleville who have won a trip to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 3rd May by virtue of their success in designing a web page with a European theme for the school’s website.

The competition was part of the Euroscola Programme which invites schools, teachers and students from all 27 member states to participate in the European programme and gives students a chance to spend a day in Strasbourg expieriencing the life of an MEP.

The C.B.S. boys, under the direction of teachers Ms Mary Mulroe and Ms Carol Merrick, won the competition for their attractive yet practical design of a web page which tells of the Euroscola programme, local MEPs and the European students attending the school from Poland, Germany, Portugal, Spain and England. The students are part of the Ballyhoura Community Exchange Project and they bring a rich diversity of cultures to school life and also enrich the school’s learning environment.

Students of the twenty strong TY class are eagerly looking forward to their trip to the Parliament and already have had MEP Seán Kelly in to talk to them about the workings of the European Parliament. He congratulated the class on their magnificent achievement, as did Ms Maxine Judge, the European Studies co-ordinator in Belfast and the European Parliament Office in Dublin.
