A new Irish Red Cross branch, South Limerick First Aid and Ambulance Unit, was officially launched by Eddie Hickey last Wednesday, 7th June, in Deebert House, Kilmallock. Officially launched by Eddie Hickey, the branch was first set up in October of last year, recruiting people and training them to a very high standard, and they were taken under the wing of the Limerick City branch of Red Cross which taught members the skills needed to provide a first class service. The branch has already taken on many duties around Co. Limerick, from Thomond Park First Aid cover, to duties in the local area such as the Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Blitz, and at Kilmallock Mart during May bank holiday. The ambulance is now permanently based in Kilmallock and is available to cover local and County Limerick-based events.
On Friday and Saturday last, the branch held its first fundraiser in Ryan’s Supervalu, and would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped out in any way and who supported them. They are truly overwhelmed by the support of the local community.
Anyone interested in becoming part of the very motivated and enthusiastic team, please contact Annette Cleary at 087 916 1147, or htttp://www.limerickredcross.org/volunteer
