Seven students from Coláiste na Trócaire have been offered the opportunity to attend this year’s summer course at the Centre for Talented Youth, Ireland (CTYI) which has its headquarters in Dublin City University. The CTYI is a youth programme which was founded in 1992, and provides specialised courses for young people with exceptional academic ability in verbal and numerical reasoning. This organisation recently carried out a talent search assessment and several students from Coláiste na Trócaire participated in these assessments. The centre offers various courses in DCU for gifted students as well as conducting research and promoting the needs of the talented in Ireland. The assessments are designed to pick up on exceptional academic ability and the top scorers are eligible for CTYI summer courses including Medicine, Engineering, Psychology, Creative Writing and Computer Gaming. The courses offered tend to cover material that is of First Year University Level or its equivalent.
