Ballingarry Bridge Club held a Charity Club Night recently and raised a whopping €700 for Pieta House.
Pieta House is a non-profit organisation that provides a specialised treatment programme for people who have suicidal ideation or who participate in self harming behaviour. This service is free to the public and relies on donations to survive.
The Ballingarry club organised the event as part of its weekly card game, and six tables were put together. Each member was asked to make an undisclosed donation and it came to a very impressive €700, a cheque for which was presented to Kieran O’Brien of Pieta House recently by Club President Joe Carroll and members of Ballingarry Bridge Club.
The club selected Pieta House this year as it recently opened a house at Mungret to help people who have either contemplated or tried to commit suicide or self harm.
