Further to last week’s news that a Letter of Intent had been issued regarding the Patrician Academy reconstruction project, local TD Seán Sherlock raised the matter with the Minister for Education and was told that, once the necessary documentation has been received from the preferred tenderer, the Department will be in a position to issue the Letter of Acceptance (LOA), which will allow the contractor to mobilise on-site.
Minister Norma Foley said, “My Department will advise the school authorities when the Letter of Acceptance issues. Once a contractor has been appointed, my Department will keep the school informed of the construction programme underpinning the contract.”
The Patrician Academy was seriously damaged in a fire in the summer of 2016, and almost six years later many students are being taught in prefabs while school management waits for the go-ahead for rebuilding to start.
