It was a daunting task for Sydney Rose Mairéad Brennan from Glantane to walk onto the stage on Monday night as the first to be interviewed by Dáithí Ó Sé at the Rose of Tralee, but if she was nervous she showed no sign of it as she told Dáithí about her home parish and even had a ‘Kilshannig Abú’ for the local GAA club. As her party piece, Mairéad sang ‘My Father’s House’, and when the camera panned to the audience you could see the pride of mother Juliette, family and friends with her performance.
Having been interviewed so early in the competition, Mairéad had to wait until late on Tuesday night before the 2022 Rose of Tralee was announced, and while she did not win, she made many friends on her journey, and when she returns to Australia she will have many happy memories to bring with her.
