GAA recognition in New York for Glin’s Pat Reidy

Pat Reidy of Glin, named New York Club Limerick GAA Person of the Year.

A former GAA star with Glin is to be honoured at the Club Limerick New York Banquet at the Lake Isle Country Club, Eastchester on this Friday night.
In its citation, the club says: “We are extremely proud and honoured to present Pat Reidy as Guest of Honour for the event. Pat hails from the village of Glin. Pat proudly wore the black and white jersey of Glin, for whom he played both hurling and football.
“He carried that grá for our ancient games with him abroad and whilst studying in Scotland he lined out for Dundee Dalriada GAA. Pat continued playing in both London and New York, before graduating to coaching under-8s which included his own kids, Fionn and Chloe.
“Pat, along with his wife Lorraine have run Reidy Contracting Group for the past 12 years where they have both been proud supporters of all things Irish. It is a major employer among the Irish community.”
Members of the All-Ireland winning Limerick senior hurling management, along with several players, are lined-up to attend the gala event in The Big Apple.
The three-in-a-row All-Ireland winning celebration will commence with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner with entertainment afterwards by Pádraig Allen and The McLean Avenue Band.
A Souvenir Journal has been produced to mark the occasion.
Club Limerick New York Chairman is Eddie Wiley of Kilmallock, while Pallasgreen’s Brendan O’Sullivan heads up the Banquet Committee.
Meanwhile, Club Limerick Dublin are hosting a three-in-a-row luncheon celebration in the Hogan Suite of Croke Park on Friday, November 18th.
The centrepiece of the happenings will be a panel discussion to include the three principles of Limerick’s current wellbeing on the hurling landscape, namely manager John Kiely, coach Paul Kinnerk and captain Declan Hannon, with Marie Crowe of RTÉ as MC.
At the outset, there’s sure to be laughs aplenty with Tierney Talks.
Tickets are priced at €150, with funds raised earmarked for the 2023 Limerick Senior Hurling Training Fund.
