Shauna Finn, who has been to the fore of youth cycling in Ireland for the last number of years, has taken another leap forward. Following on from her very successful year as a first year junior, where she has won Women’s Cycling Ireland Intermediate League, numerous National Medals both on road and Track, along with a National Title on Time Trial. She has also competed with top level athletes from all over the world in Rás na mBan and Dublin Track International; she has now been selected as a part of an elite group to take part in a development programme.
Athlete Development Programme (ADP) is open to all riders male/female from all cycling disciplines from all over Ireland to enter, from this pool, selection is made and 3 female riders and 7 males were selected to go forward. As a result this weekend saw Shauna travel to Sports Ireland to take part in Biometric Testing, flexibility testing, bike fit and various other tests.
Shauna has been a member of Newcastle West Cycling club since the age of 11 and as trained and competed for Velo Performance, Sundrive, and Arcane track teams, Cycling Munster and Cycling Ireland. The year ahead will be a busy one and we wish her the best in the future. She will be one to watch.
