Edmond gets dream coaching job with Sport Ireland

Congratulations to Edmond Hennessy of Galbally who has been appointed to a multi-sports coaching role with the Sport and Recreation Department of Sport Ireland, based at the National Indoor Arena in Blanchardstown, Co. Dublin.
Speaking to the Vale Star this week, Edmond took up the story:
“I applied in February for the job and I’m delighted to have got it.
It’s a career I have always wanted to work in. My role involves working with other coaches in providing school sports tours, including activities like Olympic Handball, athletic events including long jump, relays, high jump and gymnastics, along with soccer.
The centre also caters for sports birthday parties, corporate team building, with plans to add academy term sports such as little athletics, badminton and tag rugby.”
“I am really looking forward to my new job and would ultimately love to work with the I.R.F.U as a coach in player development, especially in the areas of girls, youth and women’s rugby, where player numbers and competition development needs to take place so that Ireland can compete at Six Nations and world levels in the U15 age group,” Edmond added.
