Best wishes go this week to Bethany Cushing from Ballyhea who is the recently-crowned Dublin Rose, and will be inter-viewed by Dáithí Ó Sé and Kathryn Thomas at the Rose of Tralee Festival next week. The festival runs from this Friday until next Wednesday, but Bethany and her fellow Rose contestants have been travelling the roads of Ireland for the past week, attending a wide variety of events. 27-year-old Bethany was educated in Ballyhea National School and Col-áiste Mhuire Secondary School in Buttevant, before moving to Dublin in 2013 to pursue studies at Trinity College. Since graduating, Bethany has worked as a Radiation Therapist for St Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network, and also in cancer research. Bethany’s career goal is to work in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and she has a deep interest in women’s health.
A keen sportswoman who won a county medal with Ballyhea GAA at U12 level, Bethany is a keen open water swimmer in Bull Island, Dublin, a taekwondo practitioner, and is also training for the Dublin City Marathon this year.
