Cork County Council last week granted planning permission for 52 residential units and for a beauty salon, shop/café and newsagents at the site of the old petrol station in Ballydaheen, Mallow. The development will comprise twelve 3-bed units, eighteen 2-bed units and twenty-two 1-bed units in a mixture of townhouses, maisonettes and own-door apartments. 57 car parking spaces, bike stands, landscaping and bin storage are also to be provided.
Welcoming the announcement, Cllr. Gearóid Murphy said: “There is huge demand for housing in North Cork and one-bed and two-bed units are unfortunately in particularly short supply. It is also great to see something being done with the old petrol station site, which has great potential and is located very close to the town centre, right opposite the bridge. I look forward to seeing this site being developed.”
