The communities of Dromcollogher, Broadford and Athea will come together over the weekend of April 12th – 14th to raise €200,000 for 41-year-old Carol Liston-O’Connor who is suffering from Motor Neurone Disease. Originally from Athea, and a resident of Broadford for 15 years, Carol is married to Liam, a self-employed plumber from Broadford, and they have five children ranging from 4 to 11 years of age.
On Friday April 12th, The Liam O’Connor Show, Brian Kennedy and Susan Browne with The BYC Studio Singers will perform in The Devon Inn, Templeglantine and tickets are available in local outlets. There will also be an auction and raffle on the night, and tickets for the raffle are on sale throughout the county.
Saturday will see footballers come out of retirement for a replay of the 2003 County Final between Drom-collogher-Broadford and Athea. The game will take place in Athea at 5pm. Then on Sunday the action will move to Broadford where there will be a tractor/truck/vintage run, along with a 5km run/walk through the beautiful grounds of Springfield Castle.
