The magnificent U15 camogie players of St Mary’s Secondary School in Charleville have been crowned All Ireland champions after they won the Super 9s, beating the best school camogie teams in the country.
It has been a wonderful adventure for the St Mary’s girls who topped their group against Gort CS, Laurel Hill Secondary and Mountrath in the round robin part of the competition, and then advanced to the All Ireland quarter-final where they beat Loreto Fermoy. After winning that, they faced last year’s All-Ireland winners Loreto Kilkenny and once again they emerged victorious, advancing to the final where the opposition was Galway side, Seamount Kinvara, who they beat 3-4 to 1-5 and were crowned U15A Super 9 All-Ireland champions.
To add to the cele-brations, Caila Neligan was named the McKeever Sports Player of the Match, while Faye Ronan and Caila Neligan were named on the McKeever Sports 9-a-Side All Star team.
For the record, the All Ireland-winning St Mary’s panel is as follows; Roísín Reidy (Newtownshandrum), Aoife Morrissey (Gran-agh/Ballingarry), Chloe McGrath (Granagh/Ballingarry), Faye Ronan (Ballyhea), Lauren McAuliffe (Newtown-shandrum), Caila Neligan (Charleville), Orla Troy (Newtownshandrum), Ava McDonogh, Captain (Granagh/Ballingarry), Róisín Herlihy (Granagh/Ballingarry), Alex Foley (Charleville), Isabelle Barrett (Ballyhea), Evie Hughes (Newtown-shandrum), Áine Frawley (Granagh/Ballingarry), Hannah Buicke (Bally-hea), Grace Hickey (Ballyhea), Chloe Jones (Charleville), Steffi O’Toole (Charleville), Zoe O’Halloran (New-townshandrum).
