Cork have huge win over Tipperary in munster senior hurling championship

Cork senior hurlers recorded their biggest win over Tipperary in the Munster SHC on record when they ran out convincing winners at Semple Stadium Thurles before 43,972 spectators on Sunday.
Tipperary had the perfect start with a goal by Mark Kehoe after 25 seconds. Darragh Fitzgibbon opened Cork’s account. Good play by Niall O’Leary to Brian Hayes led to a very good save by Barry Hogan. Jason Forde pointed a free with Patrick Horgan replying (free) 1-1 to 0-2. Mark Kehoe placed Jason Forde for a Tipp point. Shane Barrett and Patrick Horgan replied for the Rebels. Jake Morris pointed for the home side. Cork had a good point by Alan Connolly. Gearoid O’Connor pointed for Tipperary as they were level 0-7 to 1-4 after 11 minutes play. Good play by Ethan Twomey led to a Niall O’Leary point. Alan Tynan combined with Darragh Stakelum who pointed. Seamus Harnedy set up Darragh Fitzgibbon for a point. Jason Forde with a free levelled 1-6 to 0-9. They were also level 0-10 to 1-7. Good play by Mark Coleman placed Darragh Fitzgibbon for a great point. Declan Dalton landed another. Noel McGrath kept Tipperary in touch. Jason Forde levelled for the 5th time. Points were exchanged by Alan Tynan and Seamus Harnedy before Tipp moved ahead from a free in the 26th minute. Patrick Horgan levelled again. In injury time Shane Barrett placed Alan Connolly for a goal that gave his side an interval lead 1-15 to 1-12.

Robert Downey and Mark Coleman were outstanding. They scored
3-15 in this half to a mere 0-8 for Tipperary. Brian Hayes had two early points. Tipperary had a point but a second goal by Alan Connolly opened up a huge gap 2-17 to 1-14. Tipperary had a 42nd minute point but a 3rd goal by Alan Connolly after good play by Luke Meade edged the Rebels 3-17 to 1-16 clear. Cork continued to dominate. By the end of the 3rd quarter, they had added 2-6 to 0-4 for Tipperary. Shane Kingston who came on had three rapid points as Cork moved 3-24 to 1-16 clear. Kingston added another with John McGrath replying which was his sides first score in 12 minutes. Patrick Horgan and Conor Lehane added points for Cork. Further pressure saw Luke Meade and Rory Downey with late Cork points while John and Noel McGrath had consolation points for Tipperary. In the end Cork were victors by an 18 point margin. It was the biggest winning margin by any Cork team v Tipperary in Munster SHC.
