ANNUAL SEÁN MOYLAN COMMEMORATION A HUGE SUCCESS

Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North West, Michael Moynihan, has praised the organisers and all those who attended the annual Seán Moylan commemoration in Kiskeam last Sunday.

A huge turnout of over 400 people were present at Kiskeam for the annual Seán Moylan Comme-moration where a colour party marched from the local church to Kiskeam cemetery before Billy Kelleher TD gave the graveside oration.

Deputy Moynihan who was Vice-Chairman of the commemoration committee, congratulated those who attended last Sunday. “Last Sunday was a fitting tribute to Seán Moylan’s memory. I must also pay tribute to members of the Seán Moylan Commemoration Committee, who did a fantastic job in organising the commemoration. “Deputy Kelleher gave a rousing graveside oration and the memory of Seán Moylan was fittingly remembered.”

Moylan was a Commandant during the War of Independence and was later elected as a Fianna Fáil TD before serving as Minister for Lands, Minster for Education and Minister for Agriculture before his death in 1957.

“Seán Moylan’s legacy in Cork and Ireland will long be remembered and it is important to remember the impact he had on Irish independence and the birth of the Irish state,” concluded Deputy Moynihan.
