Kilfinane Coshlea Historical Society celebrated a landmark 25th anniversary with a concert and book launch at the Old Chapel Rooms in Kilfinane last Friday night.
The full-house attendance enjoyed video presentations of various projects undertaken by the group over the past quarter of a century. These short films were further enhanced by live performances of music, song and dance tailored to each project. Ballyhoura Comhaltas, Kilfinane Community Choir, Paddy Ryan, Sheila Fitzgerald, Éilis Heffernan and Conor Ryan performed at the event.
At the end of the evening, a special 25th Anniversary edition of the Kilfinane Coshlea Historical Society Journal was launched by Sr. Patricia Coughlan who said she was honoured and delighted to be chosen to launch the brand-new compilation from the group. Chairman Patsy McGrath thanked everyone who contributed to making the evening such a success, all who helped with the production of the videos and Journal, and his colleagues in the Historical Society for their outstanding input.
The special 25th Anniversary of the Kilfinane Coshlea Historical Journal, which features a total of 40 articles relating to recent and prior historical events, can be purchased at Centra and Harry’s in Kilfinane, Jimmy Ryan’s in Ballylanders, Creed’s in Elton and from the Society’s website at www.ouririshheritage.org/content/category/archive/place/kilfinane-coshlea-historical-society.
