Labour Cork North Central TD, Eoghan Kenny, has welcomed progress on the Mallow Relief Road project, with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) to announce 2025 allocations in the coming weeks.
Deputy Kenny said:
“In response to a parliamentary question tabled by myself, the department of Transport has confirmed that 2025 allocations will be announced in the coming weeks.
“I have spoken with Cork County Council on the matter of the relief road, and they have informed me that they are confident the project with go to Transport Infrastructure Ireland approval for planning at the end of March 2025.
“This is significant progress and I am hopeful that the €800,000 which Cork County Council has requested from Transport Infrastructure Ireland will be forthcoming over the next couple of weeks. I will continue to raise this issue with the Department of Transport, TII and Cork County Council.
“The development of the Mallow Relief Road is vital for the development of Mallow and the surrounding areas. Not just from a traffic flow and congestion point of view, but for housing developments current and future, for growth in the local economy, and for the accessibility of the town centre of Mallow for the population of residents and many workers who travel to Mallow on a daily basis,” he said.
