Mallow Swans Swimming Club is delighted to officially announce the appointment of Mr. Terry Higgins as our new Head coach. Terry is a Level 3 Swim Ireland coach and a Level 2 open water coach. He is a former Dolphin SC coach and swimmer. Terry previously chaired the Munster performance pathway where he was responsible for generating the current qualification times for both the Munster Long and Short Course Championships. In 2023, Terry was Head coach for the Irish Special Olympics Team at the Berlin World Games.
Terry is calm, respectful, and organised. He has a plan to build on the fine work already done with our swimmers. He is an avid student of swimming, keenly watching the latest training practices from top coaches around the world, with a particular interest in American collegial swimming. We are excited about Terry’s appointment and wish him the very best as we advance with Mallow Swans.
Mallow Swans are also delighted to announce the appointment of Ruzenka Cronin as Assistant Head Coach to Terry Higgins. Ruzenka swam for Bratislava Club in Slovakia when she was younger. She worked with The Kingdom Swimming Club, Tralee before coming to Mallow Swans. Ruzenka is a Level 2 coach, a coach for the Special Olympics, and as if that’s not enough, she is also an Artistic Swimming Coach.
Ruzenka’s role at the club is Lead Coach to our Intermediate Squad and to support our team of existing coaches.
Ruzenka’s expectations are very high with the Intermediate Squad and her main aim is to build strong confident swimmers, with emphasis on building and developing individuals to go forward into the Senior Squad. Ruzenka is calm, supportive, encouraging, organised and believes in a positive approach when coaching children. We are excited about Ruzenka’s appointment and wish her the very best as we advance with the Mallow Swans.
