Mallow band Roulette last Thursday realised one of their dreams by performing in front of a packed-out audience at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre as support to The Saturdays. The Cork girls had a night that they will never forget after being selected by judges in the Bord Gáis Energy Support The Saturdays competition. The nationwide competition was open to all types of entertainment acts aged 16 and over and gave three lucky winners from around the country the chance to support the chart-topping girl band at a one-off charity concert at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre last Thursday. This special concert marked Bord Gáis Energy’s second annual event in aid of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the event raised €150,000 for the charity.
The girls were shortlisted for the top five following a public vote on the Bord Gáis Energy Facebook page and a panel of judges which included Saturdays superstar Una Healy, decided that the band were in the top three entrants, giving them the chance to perform on the same stage as their heroes.
Speaking after the concert, band member Kate Duffy commented: “It’s an absolute dream come true for all five of us. We’re still on cloud nine and the atmosphere on stage was amazing. To get the opportunity to sing at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and to open for The Saturdays really was an honour. We’d like to thank both Bord Gáis Energy and The Saturdays for a night that we will never forget.”
Una Healy of the Saturdays said: ‘Roulette were incredible and we are thrilled that they got the opportunity to share such a special night with us. I don’t think it’s the last we’ll hear of them and they’ll have a great future ahead of them.’
Irene Gowing, Sponsorship Manager, Bord Gáis Energy said: “Roulette’s performance was absolutely fantastic and we were delighted to have them perform on such a special night.”
