The good news for those unable to attend Mass in St Mary’s Church is that all services can now be watched live over the Internet. The service is mainly aimed at people who are sick and housebound, but it also facilitates people abroad who may be unable to attend weddings or family funerals. To access coverage of any Mass, log onto www.mallowheritagecentre.com and click on MallowParish/Live Mass Service. A radio link has been in operation for several years, and this service will continue.
In related news, paris-hioners who usually attend 8.30am Mass on Sundays are advised that, due to a shortage of priests, this Mass will be suspended for the months of June, July and August, as will the 8am Mass on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Archdeacon Gerard Casey said this week that Fr Micheál Leader was not replaced when he was appointed Parish Priest of Ballyclough last year, and this has been creating a logistical problem to provide the nine Masses which are celebrated every weekend in the town’s two churches. He added that he will review the 8.30am Mass in the autumn, and that the other Saturday and Sunday Masses in both churches will continue as before.
While the 8am Mass on Monday, Wednesday and Friday is being discon-tinued, Mass will continue to be celebrated in the Mercy Convent on Tuesday and Thursday.
