Anna Caplice from Dromahane has been restored to the Ireland rugby squad for two upcoming internationals against the USA and Japan, having been dropped for the World Cup qualifying games earlier this year. Anna moved to the UK in 2021 to play with Gloucester, the aim being to regain her place in the Ireland set-up, and she has now achieved her ambition, having played for her country many times since her debut in 2016. While Anna is named on the 33-player squad, another Mallow RFC graduate Emily Lane is not on the list. Emily was on the national squad for the Women’s Six Nations earlier this year, and has a distinguished record of achievement at rugby 7s level.
