BANTEER, CASTLEMAGNER AND KILBRIN HISTORICAL GROUPS

A monument to the memory of Alasdair MacColla (MacDonnell), the greatest warrior ever produced by the Gaelic race, was unveiled at Clonmeen Cemetery last Saturday by Mr. Con Tarrant of Banteer, who spoke at length of this great man.

Other speakers were Denis O’Donoghue, author of ‘The Battle of Knocknanuss’, where MacDonnell was killed in 1647, Tom O’Riordan Kilbrin and Jim Singer, Scotland who was accompanied by Alex Calderhead and David Douglas.
