Safety concerns regarding the pedestrian crossing at the Mallow Bridge/Town Park junction will be raised at a meeting of the Northern Committee of Cork Co. Council this Friday, where Cllr Liam Madden will ask local authority engineers to check on the lights on the bridge following several incidents in recent months. Cllr Madden told the Mallow Star this week that there have been several occasions when people have had narrow escapes when cars coming from the Mallow Bridge side have come through the junction and towards people on the pedestrian crossing. The councillor is worried that there will be an accident on the crossing, and he wants the council to check if there are problems with the traffic lights.
At the meeting this Friday, Cllr Madden will also propose that a feeder lane be put in place between the exit from the Dairygold/Lidl complex and the junction with Annabella, as he believes that the current road plan is causing problems. An extra feeder lane would alleviate the problem, he believes.
