The County Limerick Ploughing Championships were held on Sunday 2nd October at Ballywilliam, Rathkeale, on the lands of the Hutch family. Ground conditions were favourable despite the heavy rain that fell in this past week. Competitors came from Cork, Clare, Offaly, Tipperary and Galway, plus a good turnout from the host county.

Senior Open: 1st Larry Bergin, Tipperary.
Intermediate County: 1st John Molyneaux, Dromcollogher; 2nd Gerard Downey, Askeaton.
Intermediate Open: 1st Frank Corbett, Clare.
Junior County: 1st Owen O’Sullivan, Broadford; 2nd Garry O’Riordan, Rathkeale.
Junior Open: 1st Mike Hayes, Kanturk; 2nd Christy Burke, Galway.
Under 28 County: 1st Michael John Dillane, Milford.
Under 21: 1st Barry Donnellan, Clare; 2nd Declan Hanley, Cork.
3 Furrow Open: 1st Nigel Healon, Tullamore.
3 Furrow County: 1st Pat O’Riordan, Rathkeale.
Vintage 2 Furrow Mounted: 1st John White, Clare; 2nd Timmy Horan, Kerry.
Senior Reversible County: 1st Colin Ruttle, Ballingrane.
Intermediate Reversible County: 1st Pakie Moloney, Pallaskenry.
All first place winners from the county classes will represent Limerick at the National Ploughing Championships in 2012.
