On Thursday last the Cycle Against Suicide peloton powered into Mallow, led by founder Jim Breen. Davis College was thrilled to host over 300 guests for lunch and entertainment on the day of the event. After the hungry cyclists, including Davis College staff and students, had lunch a presentation by the cycle group was made on the impact of suicide and mental health issues. Speakers included the charismatic Jim Breen and rugby star Mick O’Driscoll. The audience were captivated by the painfully honest words and experiences shared by each speaker. Jim Breen strongly emphasised the message of the cycle that ‘It’s OK to not be OK.’ Davis College was also delighted to welcome members of the greater Mallow community and students and staff from the Patrician Academy and St. Mary’s Secondary School. A great deal of work went into the event and the college would like to thank all members of staff, students and the North Cork School Completion Programme who made the event a resounding success. We wish the Cycle Against Suicide group all the best with the remainder of their campaign.
