Revolution Cycling Club hosted the fourth round of the 2018 Munster CX League over the bank holiday weekend. Mallow Town Park was transformed into a top class cyclocross course. Weeks of planning by Paul and Indrek from PiCycles co-ordinated the day. Well done to club members who got out of their beds on a crisp Sunday morning and created an absolutely brilliant cyclocross race. On the day, the club hosted over 147 riders from all over the country, with ages ranging from U6 to U60, all in the pursuit of fun on their bikes. Races started at 10am with under 6s, under 10s under 12s and under 14s, from balance bikes to push bikes of all shapes and sizes.
Well done to Revolution competitors of all ages. Tadgh O’Shea came first in the under 14, and Oisin Darsan was second in the junior race, Paul Birchill was runner-up in over 50 category, and Thomas Hayes was 3rd in the B race. Richard Maes continued his impressive form, taking victory again, his fourth in row. Grace Young took the honours in the ladies’ race after taking victory in Ennis as well. Every year it’s a major undertaking for the club, these events don’t happen overnight; from the planning to everyone involved, the background workers, the sweepers, strimmers, course builders, sign-on, parents who brought their children along, and that same crew who left the park spotless by 4pm. A massive thank you to all. Well done to those who got on their bikes and gave it their all, and there were a nice few results to be proud of. A special thank you to all our sponsors, as without your help these events would not be possible. As always, please follow us on Facebook at Revolution Cycling Club. And, if you feel up for it, please join us Sunday mornings at 9am outside PiCycles; there are generally two groups, a Leisure 50Km group, and the Intermediates who cover around 100km. Better to ride in a group than on your own!
