Charleville’s own Darragh Fitzgibbon was the star man as Cork ended their 27-year National Hurling League drought with a comprehensive 3-24 to 0-23 victory against Tipperary at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh last Sunday afternoon.
Darragh ran the show throughout, scoring 1-4 over the course of 70 minutes in a thrilling win for Pat Ryan’s charges in glorious sunshine on Leeside.
Fitzgibbon was not the only North Cork representative on the panel, however, with Cormac O’Brien and Tim O’Mahony of Newtownshandrum both also putting in fine performances as Cork charged their way to victory against the Premier County.
