Cork County Council’s plans to redevelop the playground on the Park Road in Mallow into a playground/skate park received a boost last Friday when the government announced a grant of €150,000 towards its construction. The plan is part of the council’s overall strategy for Mallow Town Park and will include the retention of a smaller, upgraded playground alongside the new skate park.
Welcoming the announce-ment, Cllr. Gearóid Murphy said: “There has been wonderful feedback from the local community since the plans for a skate park were announced and this grant will go a long way towards making it a reality. I believe it will be the first skate park in the North Cork area and will complement the new playground at Mallow Castle perfectly. I will be liaising with Council officials in the coming months in relation to the development.”
