Mallow RFC has sent best wishes to Emily Lane who has been named in the Ireland women’s rugby squad for the upcoming Six Nations. Emily began her rugby career with the Mallow club and nowadays plays for Belvedere College and Munster. She has also featured for the Ireland rugby 7s team. The squad will assemble for a camp at the IRFU High Performance Centre next Monday, as Ireland build towards the opening game of the 2025 Championship against France which will be played at Kingspan Stadium on Saturday week, March 22nd, with kick-off at 1pm. Following this game, Ireland will travel to Parma on Sunday, 30th March, for a game against Italy, and Emily will then be on home turf on Saturday, April 12th at Virgin Media Park in Cork, where the visitors will be England. Newport is next on the agenda on April 20th against Wales, and the championship will conclude on April 26th with an away game against Scotland. Best wishes to Emily who follows another former Mallow RFC player, Anna Caplice, who played successfully for Ireland for several years, and is nowadays a player/coach with Stade Rochelais women’s team in France.
