The N/M20 Project Design Team have confirmed motorway exits for Charleville, Buttevant, Mallow, Mourneabbey, Rathduff and Blarney at a briefing for public representatives this week. It had already been announced last year that the road will be either a motorway or restricted-access dual carriageway for the entire length, and that it will run to the east of Mallow and to the west of Charleville. On the Limerick side, there will also be exits at Bruree, Croom and Attyflin, to give nine exits altogether.
Speaking about the announcement, Cllr. Gearóid Murphy said: “It is very important that the communities living close to the road can reap the full benefit of it, so I am delighted to hear that there will be exits at these locations. There are so many commuters in North Cork who use this route to travel for work everyday, and this will be very good news for them. I know that there were major issues with an exit for Buttevant during the planning process for the original M20 more than 10 years ago, so it is very encouraging that this will be avoided now.”
