Funding confirmed for car park at Charleville Train Station

Minister for Special Education and Inclusion and Fianna Fáil TD for Cork North-West, Michael Moynihan, has received confirmation that funding has been allocated to upgrade the car park at Charleville train station. Minister Moynihan has been engaging with Irish Rail to secure funding for the car parking facilities at the train station, and it has now been confirmed to the Minister that funding has been approved and design works are underway.
Minister Moynihan said, “I’m delighted that funding has now been allocated and a consultant procured to complete the preliminary design works for the car-parking facilities at Charleville train station. I’ve been keen to advance this project as the works are badly needed to ensure commuters have the facilities they need at the train station.
“Once the design works are complete, a planning application will have to be submitted, which will likely be later this year. I will be keeping a close eye on this project to ensure it moves along as quickly as possible.
“The current car park often reaches capacity, causing frustration for passengers and impacting accessibility. These planned upgrades will not only increase parking capacity but also aim to improve accessibility and enhance the overall station,” he said.
