Irish rowing legends – the Mallow connection

Ireland rowing legends Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy flew into Dublin Airport on Tuesday and were planning to take an Aircoach back to the Rebel County with their two Olympic gold medals, but thanks to a kind offer from a Mallow man they were able to instead travel by car to ‘the real capital’. Social media was abuzz on Tuesday evening when Dublin Airport posted a video of the Olympic champions arriving in Dublin Airport, where fellow passenger Kieran Duggan offered them a lift in his car, an offer they gladly accepted. Kieran is a coach with Mallow Ladies Football Club, and Paul and Fintan even recorded a video, wishing Mallow U13s all the best in the County Final in a few weeks’ time. Well done to Kieran, and to Paul and Fintan. As Fr Ted might have said, they’re a grand bunch of lads!
