This Friday is the date for the annual nationwide Culture Night celebration, and a wealth of events have been lined up for Mallow. The fun will start from early evening, with an Indo-Persian exhibition in the Town Hall, painter Julianne Guinee at Food Capers at 5pm, Thomas Davis Pipe Band on the Main Street from 7-8pm, Centre Stage Drama School in Market Square at 7.30pm, a ‘City Paintings’ exhibition in West End Art Studios (5-9pm), calligraphy at the Globe (5pm), and a classical concert with Allora in St James’s Church at 8pm. To add to this, Mallow Music Trail, all over the town from 5-8pm, will feature a variety of music acts such as Hank Wedel, Johnny Bongos, Horgan and Eoin Turner, David Skinner, Johnny Guitar, Gerry O’Callaghan and Friends, Benjie Hallihan, Billy Attridge, Maureen Flynn, Noel Walsh, Pat Mullane and Friends, and Centre Stage Vocal Group. To top all that, a screening of the film ‘Mamma Mia’ will be held in the grounds of Mallow Castle, with music starting at 7.15pm and the film being shown after.
It should be a very special night, organised by Mallow Arts Collective, with the support of Cork Co. Council and the Arts Council, plus Keith Woodgate.
