Mallow’s James Sugrue enjoyed a productive week at the Flogas Irish Amateur Open Championship after he finished in a tie for 13th place last Sunday, on four under par. Sugrue closed with a level par 72 after back-to-back rounds of 70 moved him into red numbers. There was an Irish one-two at the Open Championship as Warrenpoint’s Colm Campbell edged out Walker Cup star Jack Hume. A final round 70 left Campbell on 16 under for the tournament, a record winning total at Royal Dublin, yet he had just one shot to spare. Hume, the world number 10, mounted a back-nine charge to push Campbell all the way but not even a 60-foot birdie at the last could deny the Ulsterman.
