Work on the completion of the boardwalk on Mallow Bridge is nearing its conclusion, but the opening of the path under the bridge looks set to be delayed until next year because of major infrastructure works on the Mallow Sewerage Scheme. The path, which links the castle river walk with the town park, has been closed to pedestrian traffic since last December, and it was planned to reopen it once the boardwalk project was completed, but last Friday’s Municipal District meeting was told that sewerage works will delay the reopening. Speaking after the meeting, Cllr Gearóid Murphy said he was disappointed with the news, but he was hoping that the path could be reopened during lulls in the sewerage works. An update on the boardwalk completion date is expected at the next Municipal District meeting.
