This pioneering initiative aims to support their members as they transition to a carbon-neutral economy, fostering a sustainable, inclusive, and thriving business community.
The newly established Council will serve as a dynamic and forward-thinking forum, providing guidance, resources, and strategic direction to businesses in the region. It aligns with the Chambers’ commitment to championing sustain-ability and enhancing the economic, social, and environmental well-being of their communities.

Aim of the Joint Sustainability Council
The Council will be at the forefront of creating a positive, confident, and well-informed business community that works sustainably towards securing our future. Its formation and activities will be guided by a commitment to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Roles and Responsibilities
The Council will support the development of sustainability objectives for both Chambers, focusing on:
1. Long-term Sustainability: Enhancing the long-term sustainability of the Chambers and their member businesses, ensuring continuous improvement in their roles as leading business representative organ-isations.
2. Societal Cohesion and Community Development: Activating societal cohesion and fostering community development, building strong and united local communities.
3. Monitoring and Advising on Sustainability Trends: Keeping abreast of developments, trends, and best practices in sustainability, and advising on current and emerging environmental and social trends, legislative developments, and public policy debates that may affect the Chambers’ operations, performance, and reputation.
4. Managing Stakeholder Expectations: Understanding and managing government and stakeholder expectations regarding sustainability objectives and the Chambers’ priorities, supporting the broader communities in Cobh and Harbour, and Mallow.
