As part of the development project, the club plan to level the field in its current form and develop two new pitches with amenities for use by the club’s growing number of teams. Upon completing the purchase, the club thanked Seán Sherlock TD and former chairman Tim Barrett for the work they have put in over the past number of years in securing the land. This development will be of huge benefit to Mallow United AFC going forward. Deputy Sherlock stated, “On behalf of myself and Tim Barrett, we wish to extend our sincere gratitude to the Mercy Sisters for the wonderful courtesy they extended to us in the course of our deliberations. The transfer of the land to Mallow Utd AFC is very much in keeping with the Mercy ethos of ensuring community benefit.”
