Cian Lynch of Patrickswell has been unveiled as Limerick senior hurling team captain, and Cillian Fahy of Dromcollogher/Broadford as Limerick senior football captain for 2025.
Cian, who turned 29 at the start of the month, succeeds the ultra-successful Declan Hannon of Adare, who has led the county since 2017, including the incredible All-Ireland breakthrough of 2018 and subsequent record-equalling four-in-a-row.
Na Piarsaigh’s William O’Donoghue has been named as vice-captain.
Limerick Chairman Seamus McNamara said, “I’d like to wish Cian all the best in his role as captain, and William as vice-captain for 2025. I want to also pay tribute to Declan for his term as captain. He has been a fantastic role model and no doubt he will continue that on the field in ‘25.”
On the football front, Cillian takes over from Newcastle West’s Iain Corbett.
In a glowing tribute to Iain, Limerick Football Chair-man Wayne Fitzgerald of Gerald Griffins said: “His presence has been more than just that of a captain; it has been a cornerstone of Limerick football’s identity.
“I want to thank Iain for his years as captain and I am delighted that he will continue to wear the Limerick jersey in the years ahead.”
Tommie Childs (Galtee Gaels) and Rathkeale’s Barry Coleman have been confirmed as joint vice-captains.
