AK United and Newcastle West are celebrated this week after local girl Sophie Liston hit the winner in a historic win for Ireland.
Sophie, a student at Scoil Mhuire agus Ide, struck late in the game for the Republic of Ireland U15s to help them win the John Read Cup Final against England at AUL Complex on Sunday.
The West Limerick girl hit her second international goal as the Republic of Ireland claimed the coveted trophy for a historic first time. (See match report and photograph on Page 61.)
