It turned out to be another shining success story when the Hillwalking Radio Club and The Morning Rambler groups teamed up to host the annual Starlight Walks in Galbally on Friday night last, writes John Barrett.
Josephine Carroll from the Irish Wheelchair Association, Tipperary town thanked both groups for making their community services branch the beneficiaries of this year’s event. It represented an emotional occasion for Josephine and her team as one of their most popular service users, Paddy Power, passed away at Christmas. Conditions were ideal for the climb to Darby’s Bed which was led by Pat Boland. The megalithic site was illuminated for the occasion. Marianne Richardson and Mary Margaret Vallance led the Lantern Walk through the village park, visiting the crib erected by Galbally Men’s Shed group in the Square and then stopping off at Christ The King Church grotto where candles were placed in memory of loved ones who had passed away. Keep an eye on the Vale Star for details of the final amount raised this year’s walks.
