Ireland’s representative at the EU Final for Young Scientists – Seán O’Sullivan of Pallaskenry – registered a brilliant second place finish in the overall standings, and also collected the International Science and Engineering Fair Prize in Katowice, Poland at the weekend.
Seán, a 6th year student at Coláiste Chiaráin in Croom, was recognised by the judging panel for his Ireland winning project, titled ‘VerifyMe: A new approach to authorship attribution in the post-ChatGPT era.’
Seán commented: “It was an honour to travel to Katowice and represent Ireland at one of the world’s most prestigious science fairs. With so many fascinating, import-ant projects on display, I am absolutely thrilled to take home the second place prize at the competition.”
Mari Cahalane, Head of the Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (Ireland) said, “As Ireland’s representative in Poland, Seán was an incredible advocate for our science, technology, engin-eering and mathematics (STEM) sector, and showcases the very best of the talent that comes from the Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition each year.”
