Sysco – Ireland’s largest food services provider – recently unveiled its newly-refurbished offices at Ardagh Road in Newcastle West. The €2.6 million upgrade, which happened over a two-year period, was officially opened by Minster Patrick O’Donovan and Councillor Tom Ruddle. The works have transformed it into a modern facility, specifically designed to meet growing industry demands across the region.
Renovation work included developing modern offices, a state-of-the-art development kitchen, extended warehouse space, as well as updated canteen and gym facilities which the company says are designed and built to meet its sustainability ambitions.
Sysco CEO Mark Lee said that, “as Ireland’s only food-service specialist of scale, we seek to continually innovate, driving the industry forward by going above and beyond to deliver an exceptional, high-quality service to our customers across the island.
“Great care has been taken to ensure that this facility in the heart of the Mid-West region, is not only in keeping with its natural surroundings but is well suited to meet the needs of employees, customers and suppliers alike while also supporting the company’s wider sustainability ambitions.”
He continued: “It is a point of pride to see the team’s hard work and vision come together to provide this facility that is home to our growing Sysco Limerick family.
“We are here to be an active player in the local community, to boost the local economy and achieve our wider business growth goals across the island of Ireland.”
Minister O’Donovan said that the redevelopment work will continue to support employment in Limerick and the Mid West. “Sysco is an important and valued employer in this region, it sustains families and communities far beyond these walls in so many different ways,” the Minister said.
Sysco currently employs over 400 people at its West Limerick site across a range of sectors, including in the contact centre, warehousing, IT, and procurement.
