The Minister of State with responsibility for Office of Public Works and the Gaeltacht Patrick O’Donovan has led the tributes on the passing of former Councillor Seán Broderick.
“I was very saddened to hear of the passing of my former Councillor colleague Seán Broderick. Seán was devoted to his family, his community and his faith and was a committed member of Fine Gael all his life.
“I had the privilege of serving with Seán when I was co-opted onto the Council in 2003 until he retired from politics in 2004.
“He served the community of Abbeyfeale and the wider West Limerick area with great distinction, being a man of integrity and service.
“To his family, wide circle of friends and the many people who knew him and worked with him, my sincere sympathies to them all,” he said.
The former Councillor, 96, passed away on Monday and is survived by his daughters Marie Therese and Siobhán, sister Ita, sons-in-law Diarmuid and Andy, grandchildren Muireann, Cathal, Róisín, Gearóid and Niamh, sister-in-law Gemma and extended family.
Seán Broderick will repose at Harnett’s Funeral Home, The Square, Abbeyfeale today, Wednesday, February 8th from 6pm until 8pm. Requiem Mass in The Church of The Assumption, Abbeyfeale tomorrow, Thursday, February 9th at 11am, followed by interment in Reilig Íde Naofa, Abbeyfeale.
