Ed Roche from Dromahane and Valerie Wheeler from Charleville are celebrating after the radio duo won a massive award at this year’s IMRO Radio Awards. The IMRO Radio Awards recognise the best of the best in the Irish radio industry. Both Ed and Valerie, who present ‘Fully Charged’ on the radio station SPIN South West, won The Bronze Award for ‘Best Breakfast Programme in Ireland’ at the prestigious event.
Speaking about the win, Ed said: “We can’t believe it! We’re so proud of ourselves and we really hope the people of Cork and specifically our home towns and villages are proud of us too. It’s such a tough category, and to be acknowledged and to win is something that still doesn’t feel real. Thanks so much to everyone who sent cards, gifts and messages of congratulations. It’s so humbling. I really feel the love”.
Speaking of their win, Valerie said: “I’m absolutely delighted that the two of us have won The Bronze Award for the best breakfast programme in Ireland. I just want to say a massive thanks to everyone for all the love and support. We are blown away by the level of support for the two of us. We still can’t believe that we did it! It feels amazing”.
